Pool Chemical Storage & Handling 

 

Pool chemicals can be hazardous, and improper storage of certain chemicals can cause fires, explosions or the release of dangerous gasses. Follow these key tips for proper storage and handling of pool chemicals to ensure safety. 

 

Storage 

 

  • Store chemicals in a well-ventilated area to avoid inhaling fumes.
  • Keep the storage area cool and dry. 
  • Avoid storing chemicals in sunlight or damp areas. 
  • Store acids aways from sanitizers to prevent dangerous reactions.
  • Place heavier chemicals on lower shelves to prevent spills. 
  • Keep chemicals in their original containers. 

Handling 

 

  • Wear the proper protective gear, including gloves, goggles or masks. 
  • Always follow the directions on the container when adding chemicals to the pool.
  • Never mix different chemicals together as this can cause dangerous reactions. 
  • Transport the chemicals upright and handle them with care.
