Maintaining Hot Tub Water Over the Holidays

Viking Heritage 2 Hot Tub

It’s always important for hot tub owners to learn how to maintain their water. During the approaching holidays we at Hydra Hot Tubs & Pools will be closed beginning December 22nd and will return on January 2nd. Knowing that customers cannot come in for water tests and that many will also be gone for the holidays, here are a few products one can use to maintain their water and chemical levels:

Scum Balls ($16.99)

Scum balls remove the scummy film on water that is generated by body oils, scented oils and suntan lotions. There are two to a pack and each one lasts at least 30 days.

SpaPure Clarifier ($9.99)

Clarifier increases the efficiency of spa filters by taking the microscopic particles in the water and combining them together to create larger particles. The particles are then removed by the filter. One can add clarifier to their water to help restore clarity if the water is looking cloudy or dull. It can also be used to maintain water that is already greet looking. Clarifier will not alter chemical levels and can be used in weekly spa care. SpaPure Clarifier

SpaPure Simply Soft ($14.99)

Simply Soft contains borates which stabilize chemical levels. Simply soft also acts as a water softener and helps keep the water clear. If added, one will have to adjust their water balance less often. SpaPure Simply Soft

SpaPure EZ-Enzyme ($12.99)

EZ-Enyzme decreases overall spa maintenance as it keeps filters cleaner for a longer period of time, eliminates waterline rings and stabilizes the PH for a longer period of time. It also works as an all natural water clarifier.  SpaPure EZ-Enzyme

SpaPure System Cleanse ($24.99)

If one is looking to drain their hot tub before or after the holidays, system cleanse is recommended as a way to clean the areas of the tub where one cannot see. Apply to the water, let the cleanse work through the plumbing and then drain as normal. Wipe it down with either a magic eraser or any other soft non-scratching material. System Cleanse

SpaPure Spa Cleaner ($9.99)

After the tub has been drained and before it is refilled, spa cleaner can be applied to a damp sponge, non-abrasive cleaning pad or a similar soft non-scratching material. For heavy stains, one can allow the cleaner to remain on the problem area for up to five (5) minutes before scrubbing. Spa Cleaner

Things to Keep in Mind:

Though the EZ-Enzyme helps stabilize the PH for longer periods of time, one should make sure their alkalinity and other levels are also stable.

Wash swimsuits in cool water without detergent to help prevent foam.

Be sure not to overdose your spa before going out for vacation. This will lead you to have to drain your tub and refill.
